The Watermelon Girl 2009

Well, What can be said? I began work on this in June 2008, but it didn't really take 10 months to paint... I really spent six months meditating in a cave without food or water. Well, I finally emerged to finish this grand essay, and I will tell anybody who wants to know that I am very happy with the results! Hope you feel the wait was a worth while one!

This painting turned out great. Congrats on completing the long process. As you know, I've also been working on slower paintings lately and sometimes it can feel like the work will never be complete. But then, sometimes by surprise, it is done. I especially enjoy the curious expression on her face, and the way she is pointing down to the table. The oranges set on the orange table cloth are particularly pleasing - wonderful, simple detail and creamy paint. Even though it took many months and many sittings to finish, the final effect is that it was completed all in one moment. Very nice!
