I have been attending an open life drawing class for five weeks now. It has been 28 years since I have done work from a live model, and during that time period I have rarely visited figurative elements in my work, so I have to admit that in the beginning, while rendering competent work during these sessions, i was not quite happy with my approach, and therefore not quite happy with my results. I have finally settled in and loosened up enough to grasp at the kind of drawings that I really want to play around with. Here is the first of what I hope will become a new body of work.

The Scroll, 6' of 220!

Here is the scroll in it's case at Rake Art Gallery. On the wall behind the case are high resolution digital prints scanned from the original drawing, and printed on high quality museum rag paper in an edition of 25 for each image. Larger prints are 74" x 14" and the smaller prints are 46" x 14"

Holy crap! presentation of this drawing is a major engineering and planning nightmare. With the installation date only 11 days away I have images to have printed and framed and the display case to build and finish, paintings to complete and more to frame, and the video installation is in the hands of others and I can only pray that it all comes off professional and on time! Enjoy another section from the 200' scroll while I go pull out my hair!

Flow

Well, I've been away for a week and jet lagged for another so haven't posted much in a while. Now that I'm back in the saddle I'm trying to prepare various artworks for exhibition at the end of the month. Much of the focus now is on the display of a 200' scroll of paper with a drawing of an alpine stream on it's length. Here are a couple excerpts from this work.
